A truly British oddity: competitors in snorkels and flippers race two lengths of a water-filled trench cut through a peat bog, without using normal swimming strokes. Many come in fancy dress. It is held at the Waen Rhydd bog just outside Llanwrtyd Wells, usually on the August bank holiday weekend.
